And the journey begins!... Or rather, so it continues

Hi, I go by the alias of Jochikid and I'm a Filipino, raised in West Auckland, New Zealand, a student at Auckland University having completed three of the five years of my undergraduate conjoint degree in chemical engeering, ethics and Japanese.

To start, I'm afraid this first post won't be anything exciting. I've set up this blog because I've not been one to document important things, let alone anything, and I've recently vowed to change my ways. So what's so important? Well, if the blog title doesn't help then you should know that the word gaijin is the Japanese word for foreigner and is literally translated as "outside person". So why am I a gaijin? Well, the reason for my being a gaijin is because I'm planning on going to Japan for one semester as an exchange student.

I'm really excited about this, and as the title of this post suggests, this is the next step of my journey - as a 日本語が好き人, and as my next step in life... hopefully. "Hopefully", because I've just found out that the University I'm wanting to apply for has limited places and our university is only nominating only one or two(?) applicants to go there.

My hope is that I will be accepted into Keio University, in the heart of Tokyo. My conjoint degree requirements are quite strict and it just happens to be that this is the only university where I will get to study exactly what I need to get credits transferred back that actually count. In terms of second choice, well... I'd rather not think about that just yet.

Because this is still in the planning stages, I've elected not to tell anyone about this blog. It would be kind of embarassing to tell everyone I was going to do this, then later on say it didn't work out. So hopefully I will be able to tell you all one day, in which case I would be then heading on a plane to Japan. :D

So wish me luck guys! (And by "guys" I mean nobody. Let the tumbleweed roll by.)
